At King City Gymnastics Academy, our Developmental Program is designed for athletes who are ready to take their gymnastics training to the next level. This program follows the guidelines set by USA Gymnastics (USAG) and is a progressive system that develops strength, flexibility, discipline, and technical skills in a structured, competitive environment.

The Developmental Program (formerly known as the Junior Olympic Program) consists of Levels 1 through 10, with each level building upon the skills and techniques of the previous one. Our athletes begin in the early levels to establish strong fundamentals and may advance as they demonstrate readiness—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Key Features of the Developmental Program:

  • Structured Progression: Athletes advance through levels based on skill mastery and coach evaluation, not age.

  • Competition Opportunities: Starting at Level 3, gymnasts can compete at local, state, regional, and even national events.

  • Time Commitment: Training hours gradually increase with each level to support physical development and competitive preparation.

  • Focus on Future: The program is ideal for gymnasts with long-term goals such as collegiate competition, elite-level gymnastics, or simply a strong desire to grow in a disciplined, high-achievement environment.

  • Development of the Whole Athlete: Beyond skills, athletes in this program build confidence, resilience, and leadership.

While the Developmental Program is more intensive than recreational or Xcel pathways, it is highly rewarding and structured to bring out each athlete’s personal best.
